How to Choose Dining Room Tables

Remember the tales of King Arthur and the Knights of the round table? Simply by looking at those myths we can see that round dining rooms tables have enjoyed a long history as a method of bringing people together.

Myth has it that Camelot's round table used by King Arthur was created to ensure that was no head or end of the table, so that no one could claim to be favourite based on their position at the table.

These are an umber color which gives them a uniquely different feel to them before looking at the design. Manufactured from birch veneers and fir solids and features the distinguishing umber color for a one-of-a-kind dinning experience. Tapered legs under a smooth, gently flaring table top, this table also has a leaf for additional guest and space.

To get the appropriate length of table that you need, you should multiply 24 inches on the number of place settings that you have recorded earlier. As for the table's width, the size of the room will be its determining factor. As a rule of thumb, the width of the table must be at around 36 inches but not more than 42 inches to ensure easy food placement.

The shape and size of the room will also determine how many chairs will be needed for the dining room table. Typically, a homeowner will keep as many chairs as they feel will potentially be needed around the dining room table at all times. This can have a negative effect of cramping space that could otherwise be utilized for better traffic and chair placement.

You can find tables in many shapes including round, oval, square or rectangular. While this can be a matter of personal preference, if you'll be having eight or more people at your table, you'll want to go with a rectangle or oval. With less people at your table (6 or under) you can get away with a round or even square table.

Square Dining Table - A square table construction would be ideal for a couple without kids, or a small family of up to four people. Square tables are usually built small, so they are ideal within space-constricted dining areas. They are also quite mobile compared to other types. They might not be quite ideal for households that entertain a lot, or who regularly dine in a long room.

One of the most important thing that you must consider before placing an order for your perfect dining table is the size of your dining room if you have a small family of around four members and do not have a dining room then it is always better to buy a round or square table and keep it in the kitchen it will not only make your kitchen look stylish but will also make up for a separate dining room.

The newer, expandable table can be an entry way table and then widen into a square card table, which would also be ideal for a small kitchen table for 4 people. When you have a large group of people over, expand the table even farther to seat 8 people or more. While you can always purchase fold-away chairs, a bench style seat is much more classic and elegant. The bench can also be pushed under the table to save space.

Also give wise consideration to what is the requirement of your family. Do you regularly eat at the dining table or is it only used when you have guests in the house? Do you have tiny tots in the house? If yes, you can also go for a light-weight wooden dining set where the chairs can also be used for other activities in the house. Even the dining table is used by kids for their home work, play time, etc.

Rectangular and square tables are available in many sizes, but personally, I prefer the rectangular shaped table which has a more elegant look and suits any type of room. However, the size of the table you buy will depend on the size of the room and any other pieces of furniture in it. Therefore, you must put a lot of thought into it before buying what is best for you and your life style.
